So You Tested Positive for COVID-19. What Now?

cold and flu
You’re not feeling great after a recent positive test result for COVID-19. It’s normal, here are a few things you can do while you recover.

It’s been almost two years since we all first heard about COVID-19 (yes, it’s really been that long). At this point, nearly 20% of all Americans have tested positive at some point for COVID-19. With ever-changing guidelines from the CDC, it might be confusing to understand what your next steps should be after receiving a positive diagnosis. If you experience mild-to-moderate symptoms, know that you have options for treatment from StarMed at no cost to you, with or without insurance.

First Things First, How Long Do I Quarantine For?

According to the CDC, if you’ve tested positive for COVID-19, regardless of your vaccination status and whether or not you have symptoms, you should isolate away from others for a minimum of 5 full days after receiving a positive test. After the 5th day of isolation, if symptoms have improved and you do not have a fever, you may end your isolation but must continue to wear a tight, fitted, non-cloth mask until day 10. If you continue to have symptoms or if you were severely ill with COVID-19, you should isolate for 10 full days and consult your doctor before ending isolation.

COVID-19 Antiviral Pill Therapy

StarMed Healthcare offers an antiviral pill to treat patients who qualify with mild-to-moderate COVID-19 symptoms. It is the first pill offered to treat the virus and is most effective when it’s taken within five days of being diagnosed with COVID-19. The pill, manufactured by Merck and called “Molnupiravir,” was shown in clinical trials to reduce COVID-19 patients’ chance of hospitalization and death by 30 percent. You can sign up for a cost-free Virtual Visit from the comfort of your own home or call from one of our testing locations to speak with a provider who can prescribe you this treatment. The treatment is most effective if you begin as soon as you’re diagnosed with COVID-19.
