Meet Our Doctors

Arin Piramzadian, DO

Dr. Arin Piramzadian is a Board-Certified Emergency Medicine Physician and is also the Chief Medical Officer at StarMed Primary and Urgent Care. He graduated from Touro College of Osteopathic Medicine New York City in 2010 and has been in practice for over 9 years. During his time at Onslow Memorial Emergency Department, he was the leader of the Sepsis and Stroke Protocol teams and patient satisfaction. He also sat on the Blood and Tissue Committee, overseeing and reviewing proper use of the limited blood supply in a community-based hospital, all while working to educate nursing and support staff.

Dr. Piramzadian is the former CMO at MedFirst Primary and Urgent Care where he provided leadership and oversight for over 25 offices. During his tenure, he led nearly 160 providers assuring compliance with up to date medical and company guidelines, prompt and accurate charting and coding and monitoring quality of care provided, holding providers to a high standard by auditing and reviewing charts and giving constructive feedback on a regular basis.

Alicia Allman, PA-C

Alicia earned her Master of Science Degree with honors from the Medical University of South Carolina in 2013. Her journey into patient care started at a young age when she became acutely aware of the health challenges that face the Latin community. Alicia was born in Charlotte and raised in a Honduran household where she was taught how to speak, read, and write in both English and Spanish fluently. As a child, she quickly identified the need to bridge the communication gap between Spanish speakers and their healthcare needs. Alicia’s desire to assist the Hispanic community, along with her unique skill set, makes her the perfect provider to serve the medical needs of every Hispanic patient that walks through our doors.

Edwin Marshall, PA-C

Edwin Marshall (prefers to go by Marshall) is a licensed medical practitioner with more than 15 years of direct patient care and clinical experience. He earned his Doctorate of Physical Therapy from Bellarmine University in 2006 and a Masters in Medical Science from Emory University in 2011. As a Physical Therapist, Marshall led a clinical team of twenty five therapists and oversaw inpatient therapy for Jaycee Burn Center, General, Neuro-vestibular, and Women’s Hospitals. Marshall later shifted his career path towards medical science and pursued to be a Physician Assistant. His experience includes specializing in acute primary care, orthopedics and internal medicine conditions. This involved patients of varying ages and conditions including pediatrics, stroke/neuro, orthopedic, cardiac, psychiatric and acute abdomens.

Marshall is currently a Medical Consultant for the Charlotte Chamber of Commerce and apart of the Government Affairs Committee for the North Carolina Area Physician Assistant Association and American Academy of Physician Assistants.

Uroosa Motan, PA-C

Uroosa Motan is a board-certified PA who earned her Master of Science degree in Physician Assistant studies from East Carolina University and has been a part of the North Carolina Academy of Physician Assistants (NCAPA) since 2015. She currently holds certifications in Basic Life Support (BLS), Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS), and Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) by the American Heart Association. Uroosa is also skilled in developing differential diagnoses, treatment plans, and disposition of patients based on history, physical exam, and workup.

Uroosa was born and raised in Charlotte has a passion for cardiology/cardiovascular health and providing care to patients without health insurance in underserved areas. In her free time, she likes to stay involved in the community by organizing blood drives and volunteering to assist refugee families. Uroosa also enjoys hanging out with friends and his a true foodie at heart. When she’s not at the clinic, you can catch her in the kitchen cooking and baking or trying out new restaurants around town.

Afua Acheampong, PA-C

Originally from Ghana, Afua B. Acheampong earned her undergraduate degree at East Carolina University & her master’s degree in physician assistant studies from Duke University. Afua’s professional interests includes pediatric & adolescent health, urgent care & family medicine. Afua tailors evidence-based medicine to meet the specific needs of her patients. She firmly believes that healthcare takes teamwork, collaboration & trust between the provider & the patient to achieve healthy living.

During her free time, Afua enjoys cooking, spending time with her family & giving back to the community.

Katy Howell, PA-C

Katy Howell has over 7 years of patient and training experience as a Physician Assistant from Columbus, Ohio and Jacksonville, North Carolina. She graduated from State University of New York Health Science Center of Syracuse in 2012 with a Master of Science in Physician Assistant Studies. While in school, Katy wrote a paper on Cancer Research that was published in the Journal of Molecular Medicine. Her research proved to disrupt cancer cell growth and provided vital support to potent anticancer fighting agents in the body.

Katy has a passion for continued education which makes her an excellent fit within our team to help guide and further train our providers and medical staff. Her prior training experience includes assisting the physicians with medical procedures, staff coordination, medical prep, and outtake work, as well as patient discussion of services and procedures. She is well-versed in reviewing patients’ medical histories, highly skilled in performing physical exams, and has comprehensive knowledge of ordering and interpreting diagnostic tests, including x-rays or blood tests.
