Full Job Description
StarMed Healthcare is seeking a Pediatric Phlebotomist to collect blood specimens for the clinical laboratories.
Responsibilities
- Functions as an intermediary between the patient, patient caregivers and the laboratories.
- Assures proper specimen collection and identification in compliance with section policies and procedures.
- Performs appropriate patient procedures in accordance with age-specific guidelines for the age groups served.
- Reassuring and calming patients who might be nervous or scared of the procedure
- Maintaining an organized and clean work area based on health and safety regulations and the guidelines of the medical institution
- Phlebotomists should be trained and proficient in venipuncture for the collection of blood samples.
Requirements
- Experience working in pediatrics
- Applying dressings to the wound created by drawing blood
- Updating patient records
- Using technical equipment to safely draw blood from patients
- Proven ability to communicate effectively and courteously.
- Responsible for ensuring samples are shipped to the lab in the appropriate amount of time and supporting records/manifests are maintained.
Experience and Required Skills
- Pediatrics: 1 year (Preferred)
- High school or equivalent (Preferred)
- Phlebotomy Certification(Required)
