StarMed is terminating all contracts with health insurance carriers. The effective termination date will be August 24th, 2024.
Unfortunately, the current state of our healthcare system is making this increasingly difficult. Personalized care has become more and more challenging in a system that favors quantity over quality and computer check boxes over face-to-face interactions. Medical costs have also become severely inflated as third parties have forced themselves into the exam room.
We have decided to be part of the solution to these problems. Our patients come first; therefore, StarMed Healthcare is moving to a fee for service practice. We will be offering primary care services at an affordable cash rate. We will no longer be accepting any new patients with insurance effective May 24th,2024 or billing any health insurance plans for existing patients after August 24th, 2024.
We have made this difficult decision so that we can work directly for you, our patients, and help rid unnecessary interference from third party payers. We understand that not all of you will be able to make this transition with us but we do want to thank you for the honor of having served as your healthcare provider. You have our commitment that we will continue to care for you and your family as we would for our own.
Fee for Service Options:
StarMed is offering three affordable service levels. These fees will be based on the level of care you need at the time of your visit:

Moderate: $135
High: $165
Do you accept insurance?
We do not accept insurance, you will pay for your services at time of service.
How do I pay for my visit?
We accept cash, check, and credit card payments.
Are there any additional fees?
Additional fees may apply for certain procedures, such as lab tests and Vaccines. These fees will be discussed with you prior to the procedure and will be billed directly by the lab or vaccine provider.
What is fee for service primary care?
Fee for service primary care is a direct pay model where patients pay for services directly, rather than through insurance. This allows for more personalized, individualized care, as well as more flexible scheduling and shorter wait times.
Why would I choose a cash based fee for service option over an insurance-based service?
Some patients choose cash based services because they have high deductibles or out-of-network coverage through their insurance. Others prefer the flexibility and control that comes with paying for their own care.
Is a fee for service primary care only for patients without insurance?
No, patients with insurance can also choose to use cash-based primary care. At time of visit you will complete documents stating you are paying for services and will not submit to insurance for reimbursement.
What are the prices for primary care services at your clinic?
We offer three different types of primary care visits, Low, Moderate and High. A Low visit is a basic appointment and costs $89. A Moderate visit is a more in-depth appointment and costs $135. What is included in a Moderate visit?
A Moderate visit is typically used for more complex issues, such as chronic conditions and follow-up visits. It includes a consultation with one of our providers, a physical examination, a treatment plan and follow-up as needed.

Are the prices for fee for service primary care services higher than those for insurance-based services?
Not necessarily. In many cases, the prices for cash-based primary care services are lower than those for insurance-based services, as there is less administrative burden and overhead.

Yes, you can still see a specialist as needed, regardless of whether you use cash-based primary care or insurance-based care. Your primary care provider will work with you to coordinate any necessary referrals.
